The Hip Place in Kingston 

I had a big surprise when arriving in Kingston and checking into the R Hotel. The hotel was super clean and I was upgraded to a whole apartment! I didn't really need 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room and a kitchen but sure made me feel special. Everything was new, working and clean. The added bonus is when I went up to the 5th floor bar/pool/restaurant and it was the prettiest, most hip little lounge with DJ music. Super cool! I loved the ambiance, the drinks and the music. Added bonus was the bartender, Captain Kidd, who was friendly, professional and knew how to do bottle tricks with a smile on his face. If I am ever back in Kingston it is definitely a place to return to.

Wonderful Stays

I have now stayed at this property twice for multi-day stays. Because it’s quite new, the R Hotel is not as well known as some other properties, but it deserves to be. Both times I stayed in really lovely rooms with furnishings that seem very new, amazing AC (of critical importance to a Canadian visiting Jamaica in the summer!), and lots of light and space. The hotel has all the safety and security features you expect, a nice rooftop restaurant and bar, and has a great location in New Kingston. 

But where the R Hotel really distinguishes itself is in the area of customer service. I have stayed at many hotels in many countries, and the team at this property is unmatched. Whether you’re dealing with the front desk, the servers, housekeeping, or a member of the transportation service (ask for Prince!) everyone is just incredibly helpful, competent, and friendly. They truly want to ensure that you have a great experience at the R Hotel and it shows in so many ways. I hope to return in the not so distant future.

Superb Stay

My seven night's stay was as near to perfect as it could get. I was once a resident of the property next door to the Hotel (Renfrew Place) and wanted to stay somewhere within the area of New Kingston where I am very familiar with and for the of convenience being close to family, friends, ex-colleagues and other local ties.

I made the best choice to stay at the R Hotel (a place that was yet to be built when I last resided in Jamaica). Everything was attended to by the staff from the moment I checked-in right up until the time I checked-out. The attention to detail paid by the staff indicated that the management do all they can to make guests as comfortable as possible. I had one minor issue to raise concerning a matter in my room and it was dealt with almost immediately, accompanied with a written apology. The staff were very caring. 

The Hotel was extremely clean throughout (including the ground of the car park floor, which appeared to be polished each day!). 

I enjoyed dining, there was a varied menu and the restaurant had a superb setting with good views across Kingston (town and mountains). The wi-fi in all areas worked well without any connection or speed problems. I have never experienced that for an entire stay in any hotel before. 

I have already recommended this hotel to many others and I only checked-out less than one week ago. 

Congratulations to Shaan Christie and all her staff, they clearly worked as a team and did excellently. After only three or four days during my stay, I was able to speak with Evan Williams and his daughter Inola to inform them of how much I was impressed. I sincerely hope that the high standards set will continue and be maintained.

R Hotel exceeded my expectations and was excellent value for money.

Coolest new hotel in Kingston

Just checked out and stayed three nights at the brand new R Hotel. Rooms are modern and comfy. Service is impeccable. Bartenders and waiters are friendly and fast. Has great rooftop open air restaurant and bar run by Redbones. Soon they will have live shows. Love this place. Rates are reasonable and includes breakfast. Highly recommend this place.
